Listening to a report of Barcelonas match last night, you'd think that Messi had struggled from his deathbed and saved their tounament status on his own. In reality, he played a bit part in the goal and did not much else. Ok, he may have had a hamstring niggle but it cant have been that bad if they named him on the bench. Agreed, he is a great, great player Is the hype around him starting to get just a little ridiculous or is that the way of footy these days?

The thing is that you have to remember that he had injured in the previous match so he wasn't at it's 100% and also he didn't do so much in the game itself but he was a change of attitude for Bracelona and also he made PSG change their formation because before he entered the much Verrati and Thiago Motta had a lot of freedom in the midlefield and that let PSG attack with almost 5 players in each counter they had but when Messi entrered they had to fold back and it gave barcelona more freedom to pass the ball which led them to the goal

I think you kind've answered your own question there! He is, in most peoples opinions, truly one of the greatest players of this era and perhaps of all time.
The Press, bless them, need something to focus on and players like Messi are always gonna have the media-hype circus going on around them.
So, yes, it is the way of football these days, along with every other facet of the entertainments industry.
I'm afraid you've just gotta go with it, you won't beat it!
